We have policy in place that if patient wants family members to be able to discuss more than one-word condition they sign for Passcode on admission. For those occassions when an elderly parent is admitted and the child who is POA and their sibling may not be speaking - what else can be done in order to discuss patient's condition without getting in the middle. The nurses did ask for social security # as well as date of birth. Is this sufficent.
Thanks.
